NorCal Steelhead Considered For State Protection

It can be a little hard to keep track of the various runs of anadromous fish that are low in number these days.  Summer steelhead in Northern California are among them. 

The California Fish and Game Commission recently voted to started the process of listing the summer steelhead under the state Endangered Species Act.  The move is prompted by Friends of the Eel River and other groups.  Scott Greacen of Friends of the Eel describes the situation for the summer steelhead, and how state protection differs from federal.
