A new mural has just been finished at Lane Community College. It depicts a raven and fox at play, painted by an Alaskan Native artist.

Pattrick Price is a Tlingit teaching artist who’s done Indigenous artwork across the area, including the Oregon Country Fair’s Ritz Sauna and Showers, and the Market District Commons in Eugene.

Price was picked from three other artists to render a large mural at Lane Community College’s Building 11, which he told KLCC was inspired by an early visit to the LCC campus.

“I saw this red fox, walk up behind me. Didn’t mind me at all, it was just about six feet away. It kinda playfully rolled into the grass and just lay there for a minute. I was like, ‘Oh wow, that’s such a cool experience. And beautiful,’" recalled Price.

Upon headed out, he had another encounter that provided another element to his mural.

"I’m leaving the parking lot there, I saw these two ravens flying overhead, kind of playfully. I stopped to check that out, y’know that’s another beautiful scene.”

Price says there will be a public event soon at LCC that will feature his latest mural, though it’s uncertain just when.
