NW Youth Activists Plan To Join Global Climate Strike

Cheyenne Thorpe
Thousands of children, students and citizens from around Portland rallied as a part of a previous Portland climate strike.

Youth activists in the Northwest are planning to take part Friday in an international climate strike. The goal, as with earlier actions, is to call on global leaders to take action on climate change, and create millions of jobs in the process.

The strike will take place the same day world leaders gather at the United Nations' 25th annual Climate Change Conference in Madrid, Spain.

Marches are planned from Seattle to Sacramento, including in Redding, Eureka, Ashland, Medford and Eugene.

Student activists will take to the streets morning and mid-afternoon.

This is the second youth climate strike this school year.
