Oregon's last fire season was the most costly in history, according to the Oregon Department of Forestry.
Department official Dan Postrel says the department spent $122 Million fighting fires that scorched more than 100,000 acres-more than 156 square miles. That is the most in 60 years.
The Oregonian reports state forester Doug Decker will report today to the Ways and Means Natural Resources Subcommittee. He will ask for $2 million in special funds, $40 million from the general fund, and authorization to obtain $134 million in federal reimbursement money.
The agency battled 1,140 fires. The 10-year average is 920.
