Sound Advice! is a free monthly, peer to peer, and hands-on introduction to hearing loops put on by The Shedd’s Hearing Loop Committee. Practice using your hearing aid or cochlear implant to access hearing loops to dramatically improve hearing accessibility in both public and personal settings. Theatres, including The Shedd, Florence Event Center, Cottage Theatre, and the Liberty Theatre are looped. Many houses of worship are looped. Eugene Airport and the Library are looped. Small loops can be installed at any reception desk or checkout counter. Loops can be portable to take with you to hear better in many settings. TV rooms, computers, taxi cabs, buses, and even outdoor events can be looped. Come join friends with hearing loss to learn about this important and universal technology. Friends and family are encouraged to attend!

This two-day teaching with Lama Karma Yeshe Chodron happens October 11 & 12, from 10 AM - Noon & 2 - 4 PM each day at Kagyu Sukha Choling, Ashland's Dharma Center of Refuge. Lama Yeshe will share the Four Reliances - the Buddha's practical tools for listening, contemplating, meditating and integrating teachings. The four sessions emphasize confident engagement with any teaching, combining group dialogue with personal practice.
Join us in celebrating California’s 175th anniversary at William B. Ide Adobe SHP. Costumed volunteers will welcome you to the 1850s and take you back in time to California's early statehood. Visitors will learn about California’s beginnings, including the story of the daring Bear Flag Revolt, and create their bear flag to take home. Guided tours of our 1850s homestead will take place at 10:30 am and 12:00 pm. Visit the heritage garden to see what pioneers grew. Come inside the visitor center to view our “Flags Flown Over California” exhibit to learn how many countries once claimed our magnificent state. This class will present an intuitive approach to drawing the nude human figure. We will work from the model, incorporating gesture, observation and imagination to create drawings that enhance and develop your own creative style. Beginners as well as those with experience are welcome. In addition to doing exercises in class, we will look at great drawings of the past to discern the elements that make up their beauty. I will be available to offer guidance and direction as needed, and even homework if you desire.
