During its glory days, Kerby was the county seat, boasting of two hotels, several saloons, a jail, school and one of Oregon’s earliest post offices. Learn of the early day residents and events which forged the hamlet during territorial times. Why was Kerby once known as Napoleon? The answer will be revealed in this program. Presenter Paul Fattig is a former journalist turned author who spent his formative years in Kerby. His maternal grandmother, Lela Ingersoll Cooke, once owned the historic Naucke house which is now part of the Kerbyville Museum and History Center. Fattig’s latest book is on the Siskiyou Smokejumper Base and its former denizens. He is currently working on a book about Kerby. The monthly Windows in Time lunchtime lectures feature well-known writers and historians and bring alive the people, values, and events that shaped our southern Oregon heritage.
