Who Wrote That?

Who Wrote That?

The Jefferson Center will present a discussion of ChatGPT and similar Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems that use language in amazingly human ways led by Dr. Tony Davis.
Dr. Davis will show ChatGPT’s capabilities in action. Then discussion will turn to broader issues focusing on education and critical thinking. How to detect and regulate this technology? Will users lose crucial cognitive and writing abilities? Is this the end of student essays?
Dr. Tony Davis received his Ph.D. in linguistics from Stanford and had a long career computational linguistics, knowledge representation, and data retrieval, including 15 years teaching at Georgetown University.
This free event is part of the Salon series of The Jefferson Center, a Rogue Valley non-profit focused on using critical thinking and secular humanist values to understand and engage with important issues. See https:thejeffcenter.org for details on this and future events. We thank Science Works for co-hosting this salon.
