The Covid Memorial Flag Project
The Covid Memorial Flag Project
The Covid Memorial Flag Project bears witness to the unimaginable scale of the Pandemic, transforming big numbers into individual people. One life at a time, honored and mourned. Hundreds of flags bear witness to those who have died of COVID-19. Each flag honors one person by name and remembers something about their life. You are invited to experience this commemoration by walking through the grounds of the Ashland Zen Center. A member of Ashland Zen Center will be available on the viewing days, October 22-26, from 12:00 to 4:00, to answer questions and to provide assistance. Visitors will also have the opportunity to create their own Covid Memorial Flags. The Covid Memorial Flag commemoration will culminate Wednesday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the ceremony of Segaki, an annual Buddhist tradition to feed hungry ghosts and to honor loved ones who have died. All are welcome. Details about Segaki are at ashlandzencenter.org/segaki
