Performing Arts Society of Redding presents "From Satchmo to Brubeck: Great Names in Jazz History", offered by the Vintage Jazz Quintet.
The Vintage Jazz Quintet consists of saxophonist Jeff Ervin, pianist Maxwell Gandy, bassist Bruce Calin, drummer Jesse Ajamian, and trumpeter Dale Curtis. The group began when Jeff and Maxwell jammed about 2 years ago. Sharing an affinity for early jazz from the stride piano era through swing, bebop, "modern jazz" and "hard bop" of the 1960's, they recruited Bruce and Jesse. Recently Dale came aboard. They appear regularly at Kelley's Wine Pub and Bar. Additional gigs have been for the Shasta County Arts Council, as well as the first annual Fall into Jazz Festival.
