October First Friday Art Show with Shanna Rose and Wear the Forest- Botanical Prints

October First Friday Art Show with Shanna Rose and Wear the Forest- Botanical Prints

Botanical Print is an art form that transfers images of leaves, plants, and flowers onto natural fabrics using only non toxic mordants (soluble metal salts) and plant dyes. Heat is used to coaxe the tannins and pigments from the leaves onto the cloth. Fibers used are silk crepe and charmeuse, virgin wool, and raw silk.

Artist Bio: Fiber Artist Shanna Rose expresses her passion for the natural world through her Botanical Print. She enjoys a life in the country growing flowers, food, medicines, and dyes. When she learned this art form, she knew that this was what she was meant to do, as it blended her life of plants and trees directly into her art.

Artist Statement: By bringing the Spirit of the plants to your clothing, may you "Wear the Forest".
