English Dance in Coos Bay Sunday, February 15, Public Welcome
The public is invited to an Afternoon Tea and English Country Dance at the Bay Area Senior Activity Center Sunday, February 15, from 5-7:30PM. All ages welcome. This special event will feature live music by the Summer Wind Enseble, a professional South Coast quintet. Singles and couples can all enjoy the enchanting beauty of English Country Dancing. It’s easy to learn and a pleasure to experience. New dancers can also English Country Dancing. It’s a graceful, and a very enjoyable form of casual social dance. Callers will guide you throughout the evening. Please be on time for their dance lesson at 5pm.
The Summer Wind Ensemble plays lovely arrangements of traditional English dance tunes. This vibrant band features Cynthia Stone on flute, Penny Mcleod on piano, Sharon Rogers on oboe, Al Rumsch on recorder, and Gerry Canning on guitar. Their music is the perfect complement to these endearing English dances. If you prefer not to dance, you and your friends can relax to this lovely music with a cup of tea.
The South Coast Folk Society will be your host for this event, and all South Coast residents are encouraged to attend. Enjoy time-honored dances like “The Wood Duck”, “Sapphire Sea”, and “The Bashful Swain”. Comfortable, casual attire is recommended. Period dress is welcome.
This event is alcohol and fragrance free. It will take place at the Bay Area Senior Activity Center, 886 South 4th in Coos bay. Refreshments, including scones and tea, will be served.
