A new study released Tuesday from the Pew Charitable Trusts shows Oregon ranks fifth in the country in voter turnout and eighth in voter registration.
The report is based on 2014 election figures.
Molly Woon, a a spokeswoman with the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office, said the study shows the state’s improved.
“We’re really excited to see ourselves move up given that this new data doesn’t even take into account Oregon Motor Voter," Woon said.
The motor voter law automatically registers people to vote when they apply for or renew a driver’s license or ID.
The Pew study found Washington ranks 18th in voter turnout and registration rate for voters. Idaho’s voter turnout was 26th and it ranks 46th in voter registration.
