What it may take to recover from 'The Next Apocalypse'

There have been so many zombie movies made in recent years that we found a list of the "Top 100 Zombie Movies." Several, in fact. Add to that the various asteroid-or-comet films, and we imagine large-scale disasters a lot.

Chris Begley focuses below the extinction-level events, because there have been many cataclysms in human history.

Begley, who is both an archaeologist and a survival coach, lays out some prime examples in The Next Apocalypse: The Art and Science of Survival.

It's not like the movies, apparently; instead of heroes, it takes communities to move on after a big disaster.

The author joins us to detail some of his points.
