Restoring Paradise, with an emphasis on education and health care

Camp Fire 2018
Camp Fire 2018

There's certainly a physical component to a major fire in a town; many buildings are destroyed. But there's also a psychic component, a community that is forced to rebuild and recover from the trauma.

Paradise, California still has a long road ahead after the 2018 Camp Fire. And recently published research led by an Oregon State Universityassistant professor looks into the impact on Paradise of losing not just homes, but schools and health facilities as well.

Erica Fischer from the College of Engineering and Sara Hamideh and Payel Sen from Stony Brook University talk about their research, and the recommendations for rebuilding in a community with considerable lingering social vulnerabilities.
