Military veterans make up a small portion of the American population in these days of all-volunteer military.
But veterans make up a larger proportion of people who commit suicide around the country.
Many programs and people are working on the situation, trying to bring the suicide numbers down. They include Dr. Alan Teo, a psychiatrist at the VA in Portland and an associate professor of psychiatry at Oregon Health & Science University.
His work aims to better integrate primary health care with mental health care for veterans.
Dr. Teo visits to talk about his work and the results.
