Poaching Epidemic In Oregon Prompts New Incentives For Hunters

Ryan Hagerty/Public Domain

We get reports almost daily about people hunting without the proper permits in Oregon. Poaching is a big problem, and the state notes that sometimes the illegal take of certain animals exceeds the legal hunt numbers.

The Turn in Poachers (TIP) program shared between the state and the Oregon Hunters Association already offered cash rewards for people who turn in poachers. Now it's offering additional incentives to law-abiding hunters.

Reps from the TIP program visit to detail the concerns and the responses to them.
