Since Oregon reshaped its Congressional districts in the early 80s, only three people have represented the huge 2nd District. And number three, Greg Walden, is not running for another term.
So the rare open seat presents an opportunity for both parties, but it's an uphill climb for a Democrat in a district that has many more registered Republicans. Alex Spenser, a Klamath Falls writer, speaker, and campaign strategist, decided to run when Raz Mason got out.
Spenser won a crowded Democratic primary, to face former state Sen. Cliff Bentz in the general election. We spend some time getting to know the candidate and her vision for what she would do in Washington, if elected.
