Partners In Storytelling: Oregon Historical Society And The Immigrant Story

Miguel Rodriguez wrote about his mother, Luz Rowley, and her journey from Mexico with two children.
The Immigrant Story
Miguel Rodriguez writes of his mother, Luz Rowley.

About 98% of the US population can trace ancestors back to other continents. So yes, we are indeed a country of immigrants.

The Immigrant Story, based in Portland, tells the stories of people who have immigrated, to increase understanding and empathy. TIS and the Oregon Historical Society recently announced a collaboration to give the stories wider reach.

Sankar Raman, founder of TIS, visits with Shawna Gandy of OHS, and D.J. Prashant Kakad, whose oral history is among the archived stories.

Further research: Prashant mentioned the Ghadar Party of the early 20th Century, which advocated for Indian independence from the United Kingdom.
