Demonstrators kneel for nine minutes of silence in memory of George Floyd, who died on May 25 after a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck.

The whole world now knows the name of George Floyd. His death under the knee of a Minnesota police officer unleashed pent-up rage and sent demonstrators into the streets all over the country.

Police are simultaneously the focus of the protests and the people responsible for restoring order. Different departments have responded in very different ways.

Police in Medford have attempted to let the protests have some space, while Ashland Police Chief Tighe O'Meara joined the protestors.

Chief O'Meara and Medford PD Chief Scott Clauson visit.
