Crater Lake National Park is set to open again Monday after a 35-day closure due to the federal shutdown.
The road to park headquarters and Rim Village is expected to open Monday, but Crater Lake officials cautioned eager visitors that park workers will need time to clear snow from roads, repair plumbing leaks and reopen restrooms.
During wintertime, the road to Rim Village provides access to views of the lake on a clear day. The drive this time of year from Eugene takes more than three hours, with only the park’s south entrance open and Highway 62 leading to the road to Rim Village.
