The Democrats have had moving speeches from former presidents and sitting presidents, but Thursday night all eyes are on Sec. Hillary Clinton, the party’s hope for the upcoming presidential election. Clinton finally takes the stage as the keynote speaker to formally accept the nomination.
Here are three things to consider while watching Clinton’s acceptance speech:
1) Does She Tell Us Anything More About Herself?
It’s been a good convention so far for Clinton. Strong testimonials from her husband, former President Bill Clinton, Barack and Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and many, many more. But now she has to close the sale.
In the biggest speech of her career, we’ll get her own view of why she does what she does and why she feels it has shaped her to be the next president. Will her speech persuade voters that she should be in the Oval Office?
2) Will She Squarely Address Her Trust Gap With Voters?
It’s unlikely she’ll bring up the email controversy — her opponent is bringing it up enough for the both of them — but it would sure be interesting if she did. Either way, it’s not a secret that Clinton has a major trust problem with a good portion of the electorate. We haven’t really heard much from her campaign about that. Will she address the apprehensive voters head on tonight?
3) Chelsea Clinton Will Introduce Her Mother:
The former first daughter of the United States will pop back onto the national stage Thursday night when she introduces her mother to the DNC. She’ll undoubtedly have some memorable lines – and it’s safe to say that, unlike Ivanka Trump, Chelsea won’t admit to sometimes leaning toward the opposition party. But will she be able to add any anecdotes we haven’t already heard?
