JPR Live Session: Emily Kinney

Ways To Subscribe

The Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter/actor joined us to talk about how she's managing her dual careers, and to play a few songs from her new album The Supporting Character.

Emily Kinney may be best known for her various TV roles, (The Walking Dead, Masters of Sex, Ten Days in The Valley) but her lifelong love has been music. And while she's been making waves on-screen, she's also crafted four beautiful full-length albums of indie folk-pop.

Her new release, The Supporting Character, touches on themes of heartbreak and loss, family history, creativity and personal growth.
During our session, Kinney talked about how she manages her parallel music and acting careers, her ideal path forward with both, and how the process of channeling her own emotions and experiences through song differs from the work she does through the characters she portrays on television.

We also got treated to a few tunes from The Supporting Character.

As FM Network Program Director and Music Director, Eric oversees many aspects of JPR's broadcast day. He still hosts the occasional Open Air or classical music shift, and is the driving force behind JPR Live Sessions - our popular series of live in-studio music performances and conversations.
