Oregon Shakespeare Festival Announces New Artistic Director

Nataki Garrett, most recently acting artistic director for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, will be the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's sixth artistic director.

A 20-plus year veteran of the theater and arts industry will serve as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's sixth artistic director, succeeding Bill Rauch when he steps down in the summer.

OSF announced Tuesday that Nataki Garrett, currently serving as acting artistic director for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, will take the reins in August, according to a company news release. The announcement ends a nearly yearlong search following Rauch's February 2018 announcement that he would step down from the post — also this August — for his new artistic directing job at the Ronald O. Perelman Center for Performing Arts at the World Trade Center in New York City.

Diane Yu, a search committee member and co-chair of the OSF board of directors called Garrett "an individual with a powerful artistic vision, proven change leadership qualities, and the ability to continue the Festival's upward trajectory established under predecessors like Libby Appel and Bill Rauch."
