50 Years Into An Illustrious Career, Jazz Great Pat Metheny Still Starts Each Day At Zero

Over the course of his more than 45 years as a recording artist, Pat Metheny has explored nearly every avenue of what it means to be an improvisatory musician. From avant-garde projects like Song X and Zero Tolerance for Silence, to the pop-leaning Pat Metheny Group records, Metheny's singular sound and creativity has pushed back against the confining genre labels. Instead, he considers all his his creative output to be a part of the same lifelong composition.

As FM Network Program Director and Music Director, Eric oversees many aspects of JPR's broadcast day. He still hosts the occasional Open Air or classical music shift, and is the driving force behind JPR Live Sessions - our popular series of live in-studio music performances and conversations.
