Cover Oregon Enlists People

oregonlive.com

The director of Cover Oregon says the state's insurance exchange has enrolled an estimated 7,500 people in private health plans.

The number released yesterday is a significant increase over the 730 people who'd been enrolled a week ago.

Cover Oregon's acting director, Dr. Bruce Goldberg, says many more people will be enrolled before the end of the month.

Oregon significantly lags behind other states because its online enrollment system still doesn't work. The state is using paper applications, and more than 400 workers are processing them manually.

Goldberg says Cover Oregon will hire two experts to review software code written by Oracle, the primary contractor developing the exchange technology.
