Oregon Schools Get Report Cards

Oregon has released its redesigned report cards for the state's public schools and districts.

The new cards track more information than in the past about student performance, school curricula, and college readiness.

State officials said Thursday they tried to design a system that rewards schools that help all their students improve, and not just give good grades to those with high passing rates on state tests. Those schools often have fewer poor students.

The report cards show 114 schools getting the top grade, while 60 schools were rated at the bottom.
