Castle Rock School in Castella is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year. Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 8th grade. Featuring student-centered instruction, small class sizes, art and music classes, free after-school program and summer camp, free lunch and breakfast for all students, free field trips and outdoor education, and fun family nights and events. The Archaeology Channel International Film Festival is a juried international competition in the cultural heritage film genre, bringing you the world’s best films relating to the human past and our shared cultural heritage. These are great films for the whole family!
Our Keynote Speaker, Dennis Jenkins, will kick off the event at the Festival Banquet, on May 15th at the Gordon Hotel. This is followed by four days of juried films and videos on archaeological and indigenous topics, screened in the Sheffer Recital Hall at The Shedd Institute. Bring your food-scraps to the Thursday Grower’s Market at Hawthorne Park, in Medford. We’ll collect and transport them to your favorite local farms to utilize as compost!

Cathe Williams, organizer, along with other interested people, will be presenting a Mental Health Wellness Fair on Thursday, May 16rh in the community hall at St. Mark's Episcopal Church (Parish). Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The goal of this event is to put resources into the hands of people who otherwise would be unaware of them or need help accessing these important tools.
The focus of this resource fair is to place emphasis on the power of wellness in people's everyday lives.
We have put together multiple businesses and organizations who believe recovery is possible with the help of wellness resources, thereby contributing to their overall well-being.
We hope to pass this information on to the community members and look forward to seeing them there. This event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the YMCA lot directly across the street from the church -on a first-come, first-service basis. Adequate street parking is also available. St. Mark's is handicap accessible.
Southern Oregon University’s Schneider Museum of Art (SMA) is thrilled to announce its upcoming exhibition, "Moving Pictures: A Survey Exhibition of Works by Deborah Oropallo and Collaborators." Opening April 18 at 5 p.m., the exhibition invites art enthusiasts to delve into the captivating world of Deborah Oropallo and witness her artistic evolution spanning montage, sculpture, installation, and media work.
More than just a retrospective, "Moving Pictures" amplifies Oropallo's artistic journey, shedding light on her significant contributions to contemporary art. Born in Hackensack, New Jersey in 1954, Oropallo received her BFA from Alfred University and her MA/MFA from the University of California at Berkeley. Initially trained as a painter, she seamlessly integrates mixed media techniques such as photomontage, video, printmaking, and painting into her practice.
Come see the incredible sculpture of 2 dynamic artists. Claire B. Jones, from Washington, takes her colorful cloth and creative stitching sculptures to new heights. These 3D sculptures surround you with light as you follow the twirls and swirls of her artwork. Running concurrently are the works of Melissa Thompson from Montana. Melissa creatures fantasy animals using fiber and mosaics, on her taxidermy art. The playful colors and textures will draw you into a world of creativity.
