Zero to Fierce Festival: Bubblegum
The 10th Annual Zero to Fierce Festival Presents: Bubblegum, by Daniela Nenova
A NOT-for-children Children’s TV Show Whimsically Set in a Dumpster Fire
Dive into the eccentrically disturbing world of BUBBLEGUM by Daniela Nenova, a not-for-children children’s TV show. Join our live studio-audience and experience nostalgia, 20 things to do with gum, a song of the day, an anarchist survival guide disguised as a puppet, and more! (Basically, welcome to 1984’s Sesame Street, located in Chernobyl.)
Bubblegum is a one person show utilizing clown, puppet theater and storytelling, and explores themes of nostalgia, resilience, anarchism, immigrant, LGBTQ+ and social justice themes, alongside a good amount of whimsicality and light psychological horror.
Daniela N Nenova (they/them) was born and raised in Bulgaria, EU, where they got a BFA in puppet theater before making Cincinnati their home. Daniela is a multidisciplinary artist and performer, with focus on fringe, experimental and conceptual theater and sculptures. They are one of the co-founders of Solasta Theatre Lab, a grassroot lab specializing in adult puppet theater, physical exploration and original work. Daniela's signature style of creation is "finding beauty in the deemed ugly". After this, they are headed to Portland, OR, to perform their solo show BUBBLEGUM, and install "Cockroach Church", their newest immersive project.
