Come listen and dance as the SOU Salsa Orchestra premiers their first concert: “Salsa Del Valle.” The concert will be presented in-person and livestreamed here: https://youtu.be/D8VDlkmj_CI The newly formed SOU Salsa Orchestra, directed by Graduate Music Student Parker Stockford will provide an evening of rich Afro-Cuban Music that incorporates elements from Latin American styles. Based on the Latin beat called the clave - the "Salsa Del Valle" program will feature selections from composers Marc Anthony, Tony Succar, Juan Luis Guerra, and more! Under the umbrella of Salsa, the ensemble will play a wide variety of styles including Merengue, Mambo, Rumba Guaguancó, and Samba. The Salsa Orchestra will also feature a wide variety of percussion instruments, including wooden sticks (claves) and rich vocals that will make the audience sure to get up out of their seats and dance to the lively upbeat rhythms.
