Oregon’s Geology: Getting the Big Picture
Oregon’s Geology: Getting the Big Picture
The Pacific Northwest is the youngest part of North America and Oregon is in the middle of it all. Made up of igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks that intermingle, juxtapose, and flow together in the West Coast to make a varied landscape. Where do the Klamath/Siskiyou Mountain Ranges fit in this sequence? How does Oregon hold the key to mammal evolution? Where do the Cascade Volcanics fit in this pattern? Join for 2 online sessions (6/9 & 10, 6-8 PM) plus a field excursion to see a variety of rock types and fossils in context (6/11, 9:30 AM-3 PM). Ages 12+ welcome.
