John Beeson: Abolitionist and Advocate for Indigenous People Southern Oregon’s First Civil Rights Activist

John Beeson: Abolitionist and Advocate for Indigenous People Southern Oregon’s First Civil Rights Activist

During his lifetime John Beeson was called the Indian Apostle, Father Beeson, the Alpha and Omega of the Indian cause, a monomaniac, a depraved liar, vile, fanatical and venerable. Learn more about Southern Oregon’s first civil rights advocate with historian Jan Wright at the fourth and final Love Local History event, Saturday June 11, 2022 beginning at 2 p.m. at the Ashpole Community Center in Eagle Point.

Wright’s presentation is the fourth and final event in the Love Local History spring speaker series. The series is made possible in part by an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant to the City of Eagle Point from the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the State Library of Oregon with the support of Southern Oregon University and the Guardians of the Eagle Point Museum. For more information contact Maureen Battistella, Eagle Point Museum volunteer, at mbattistellaor@gmail.com or 541-552-0743.
