Hummingbirds: Chasing Flowers for 1,000 Miles (Part 1)

Hummingbirds: Chasing Flowers for 1,000 Miles (Part 1)

Pollinator Project Rogue Valley (PPRV) is excited to partner with Klamath Bird Observatory (KBO) for this two-part series about hummingbirds, the flying jewels of legend and our daily lives.

Part 1 - February 8, 2026 - learn fascinating insights about the biology, behavior, and conservation of hummingbirds. You will hear about their heroic migrations across the western hemisphere, how important hummingbirds are for pollination, how suburban gardens can support declining populations, and how our food choices can impact their habitat and lifecycles.

Part 2 - May 10, 2026 - a talk and walk to identify hummingbirds and demonstrate how to submit your data to eBird to support community science.

Both events are conducted by Martín López Aguilar, a professional bird bander and Project Leader at KBO. Martín has extensive experience with hummingbirds as well as numerous other bird species in the US, Mexico and Colombia.
