Growing Veteran Agripreneurs Beginning Farmer Training

Growing Veteran Agripreneurs (GVA) is a beginning farmer training program designed for veterans interested in pursuing careers in small-scale agriculture. Over the course of a season, participants are exposed to all aspects of sustainable, small-scale farming through hands-on field experience at SOREC in Central point, farm tours, and one-on-one mentoring. Participants learn from many teachers. Topics include: production propagation, soil management, farm business planning, irrigation, drought mitigation, tools and equipment, integrated pest management, marketing, seed saving and small livestock operations. Class times vary based on tour locations and daylight hours, but will be on Wednesdays starting at or after 3pm.
