Collins Forest Field Days Series kick off with workshop on fire-adapted forests

Fire-Adapted Forests Workshop/Collins Forestry Field Day Series Oregon State University Extension is conducting a series of hands-on field days at the Collins Demonstration Forest near Gold Hill to spread knowledge and skills needed to create and maintain healthy forests. The first workshop, scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 27 will focus on fire-adapted forests. Participants will receive guided practice from local experts in tree health assessment, thinning methods, pruning, and pile burning. The workshop is well-suited to woodland owners, students, and other members of the public who are interested in forest stewardship and are looking for a fun, active, insightful day in the woods. The workshop is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. The cost is $10/person, and preregistration is required. The registration deadline is Jan. 24.
