A series of Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement® classes will be held at Siskiyou Aikikai on four Mondays from 5:30PM to 7:00PM: July 19: Grounding (Relationship to the ground through the feet) July 26: Breathing Freely August 16: Walking August 23: Orientation (10 Direction Eyes) Awareness Through Movement® (ATM®) lessons are designed to help you be more comfortable and skillful in you body. Designed for you to learn from your own inner experience, they encourage you to quiet your mind, engage your senses, and explore how you move in the world. Using slow, gentle, mindful movements, the lessons afford you the opportunity to make subtle distinctions that clarify how you maintain habits of action in your daily life and how to learn new ways of moving beyond what is habitual. In each lesson a new aspect of function is studied and refined to enhance your movement repertoire. Biological fitness is acquired, allowing you to be more adaptable and resourceful and to move with greater ease and effectiveness. The cost is $70 for the series or $20 per class. Advance registration is requested. For the safety of all participants, COVID-19 vaccination is required. Instructor Darrell Bluhm has been a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner since 1996. As chief instructor at Siskiyou Aikikai since 1983, he also teaches Aikido and Iai Batto-ho (Japanese swordsmanship). Siskiyou Aikikai is located at 777 E. Main St. in Ashland (corner of E. Main and 7th, across from the cemetery). Street parking is available on Morton St. alongside the cemetery.
