Ashland City Band Concert, Dr. Alexander Gonzalez, conductor

Ashland City Band Concert, Dr. Alexander Gonzalez, conductor

The July 10 concert is based on the theme "Natural Earth." This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument, designated to protect one of the most biologically diverse landscapes in North America. It remains the only national monument established specifically to preserve biodiversity. Its 114,000 acres are home to an extraordinary range of plant and animal species, thriving in a mosaic of forests, grasslands, woodlands, and high desert. For many people in southern Oregon, the Monument is a point of pride and a powerful reminder of why we care so deeply about this place. Music titles will include "The Redwoods," "Earth Song," "Variations on an African Hymnsong," and John Philip Sousa's "From Maine to Oregon."
