Gary Leif resigned from the Board after he was appointed to serve in the state house. He’s replacing Dallas Heard who was appointed to take the place of Jeff Kruse in the State Senate. Kruse resigned after a sexual harassment investigation.

Keith Cubic is Douglas County Planning Director. He says applications for the seat on the board of commissioners are being accepted through July 31 st.

”It’s a recruitment for a person to be appointed as interim commissioner to serve basically through the end of the year. There will be an election in November that will elect a replacement for Commissioner Leif and that person would take office in January.”

Douglas County Commissioners Chris Boice and Tim Freeman will choose the interim commissioner. The plan is to have them in place in September.
