Police Arrest Teen Whose Mother Bought Guns On Craigslist

20151014School

Police in southern Oregon arrested a teenager Oct. 6, after he allegedly said he wanted to get into an armed confrontation with law enforcement.

The Grants Pass Daily Courier reports the 15-year-old boy from Merlin, Oregon had three guns, several body armor vests, ammunition, a tactical baton and several law enforcement-like badges.

Police say the boy’s mother bought him the guns and ballistic vests on Craigslist.

In court documents, acquaintances of the boy said they reportedly overheard him saying he wanted to get into a shootout with police. They also say he once threatened to kill people at North Valley High School in Grants Pass.

A tipster warned police about the boy Oct. 4, just days after a massacre at Umpqua Community College left 10 people dead.
