In 2013, nearly 2 thousand people in Lane County didn't have a place to sleep at night.
Lane County's Poverty and Homelessness Board is looking at long-term ways to solve this problem. Eugene Pastor Dan Bryant is vice-chair of the Board. He spoke with me about some short term efforts to help Lane County's homeless people get through this winter. Bryant says they plan to put out a "big ask" to the community for public or private entities with land for homeless people to sleep, either in tents, Conestoga Huts, or vehicles.
New volunteer trainings are underway for the Egan Warming Center. The next one is Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:30 at Trinity Church in Eugene.
