State Of Oregon Launches New Online Homepage

Oregon launched a new online homepage for users to access state resources. The project took nearly two years to complete.

Matt Shelby is with the Department of Administrative Services. He hopes the new site well serve both state employees and citizens.

“The underlying premise here is a fundamental shift in the way we organize our site, away from a bureaucratic structure and really more towards a focus on the end user and what Oregonians are looking to do when they go into Oregon.gov.”

Shelby says part two of the renovation project is to encourage state agencies to update their sites. He says the new website is smart phone and tablet friendly.

The website’s vendor NicUSA started the redesign process in 2012. State officials say redesign was included in the vendor contract and there were no additional costs. The previous homepage was more than a decade old.

The company analyzed which web pages were being clicked on most often and where most people seemed to be going.
