Smoke Worse, Events Cancelled Or Changed

Geoffrey Riley/JPR News
Ashland in the morning. Smoke obscures the hills in the background.

The region's already dismal air quality suffered from more wildfire smoke on Monday.  At one point in the afternoon, Shady Cove recorded a reading into the "Hazardous" level.Klamath Falls was not far behind.  And Medford and Ashland spent much of the day in the "Very Unhealthy" category before evening set in and the numbers came down.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival had already cancelled two performances of plays in its outdoor Elizabethan Theatre in Ashland.  OSF presents no plays on Mondays.

Meanwhile, the Britt Festival in Jacksonville announced that this week's Britt Orchestra concerts would move to North Medford High School, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights.  Decisions about other Britt concerts will be made after the weekend.
