Church and state are headed to court over a situation in Brookings.
St. Timothy's Episcopal Church had been one of several churches offering free meals to people in need in the community; when some other churches stopped in the pandemic, St. Timothy's began serving meals six days a week.
The city, prompted by complaints, ordered the meals restricted to two days a week. The church objects to the ordinance on constitutional grounds.
The Rt. Rev. Diana Akiyama is the Bishop of the Diocese of Oregon, visiting with the church view of the story.
