Underground History: Women brewers in Oregon

Hop House at Lowell, Oregon
Hop House at Lowell, Oregon

Nothing like a cold, frosty one on a summer day, eh? And by a cold, frosty one, we mean a discussion of beer brewing.

Both of our states have a rich history with sudsy beverages, and we take up the topic anew in this month's edition of Underground History, our archaeology segment in partnership with the Southern Oregon University Laboratory of Anthropology.

Chelsea Rose from SOULA, the segment producer, joins us to talk about women and brewing in Oregon. She brings Tiah Edmunson-Morton, who maintains the Oregon Hops and Brewing Archives at Oregon State University.

We'll get into additional details about a pending dig at the site of the Eagle Brewery in Jacksonville, one of the first in the region, run in its latter days by Fredericka Wetterer.
