Feds Subpoena Cover Oregon And Oregon Health Authority Over Website Problems

The U.S. Department of Justice has subpoenaed the Oregon Health Authority and Cover Oregon over problems with the state's health insurance exchange.

The subpoenas ask for power point presentations, e-mails, letters and any other forms of communications concerning the problematic website.

The feds also want any communication among ten named staff including: Rocky King, Bruce Goldberg, Carolyn Lawson and Mike Benetto.

The subpoenas also call for purchase orders and invoices for Oracle -- the software company that built the site -- and the Exeter Group, a company that competed with Oracle for that contract.

Nkenge Harmon Johnson, Governor John Kitzhaber's communications director, said, "I can't tell you what this review means for the technology vendors that worked to build the website.".

"But I can tell you that the governor is supportive of this review and getting to the bottom of what happened."

The DOJ asked that the content of the subpoenas not be disclosed, but Johnson says the governor secured permission to release the information.

Parties have been told to appear at the U.S. District Court in Portland on June 10.
