Klamath County has long struggled with the highest unemployment rates in the state. And now, it’s likely to lose about 300 jobs this summer.

A call center in Klamath Falls has notified its employees that it will close if it doesn’t find another customer by August.

The call center, called iQor, provides contracted telephone services for other companies.

iQor sent a public notice to employees saying that “a loss of business” led to the decision to close the site. It says it’s trying to contract with another vendor.

But if it doesn’t find someone soon, iQor will close its Klamath Falls facility by the end of August.

As of April 2019, Klamath County had the highest unemployment rate in the state at 6.9 percent. Oregon’s statewide rate is 4.3 percent.
