The question "who takes care of children first?" usually has an easy answer: the parent.

But when the child is taken out of her or his home and placed in foster care, the answer changes.

And in some areas, the answer becomes the CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocate. CASAs appear in court and visit with the child to see to their interests, as long as they remain in foster care.

CASA of Jackson County keeps an eye on kids in both Jackson and Josephine Counties; Executive Director Jennifer Mylenek joins us.
