A New Tool To Fight Crime: "Shasta's Most Wanted"

The criminal justice system in California is still trying to find its bearings in the post-"realignment" world.

AB109, the "realignment" law, took some pressure off the overcrowded state prisons by shifting some prisoners convicted of lesser crimes to county jails. 

And keeping jail populations down means put more would-be inmates on the streets, especially those awaiting trial. 

The Shasta County Sheriff's Office joined forces with the police departments in Anderson and Redding to display "Shasta's Most Wanted" online. 

Redding Police Chief Rob Paoletti explains how it works and how effective it's been so far.
