On Friday night, July 25th at 8pm, JPR's Classics & News Service will broadcast the final concert in the series Carnegie Hall Live, featuring The National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America.
The National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America is a phenomenal new group made up of 120 of the brightest young instrumentalists in our country, and led by the dynamic conductor David Robertson. He'll lead them in a new work by American composer Samuel Carl Adams; Leonard Bernstein's "Symphonic Dances" from West Side Story; Ravel's orchestration of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition; and they'll be joined by superstar Gil Shaham for Benjamin Britten's Violin Concerto.
In partnership with Carnegie Hall and WQXR, Carnegie Hall Live is a season of “must-have” classical music events, broadcast live from the nation’s most famous concert hall. The series includes concerts from all three of Carnegie Hall’s iconic stages: Weill Recital Hall, Zankel Hall and Stern Auditorium.
