California On High Fire Alert

CalFire

CalFire says the gusty winds and low humidity expected throughout California over the next few days will dramatically increase the fire danger.

The state agency is calling in hundreds of firefighters who would normally be off duty, and it’s moving equipment to the areas where the fire danger is greatest.

CalFire’s Daniel Berlant says the grass and brush are as dry as they get.

Berlant says this year's fire season has been worse than last year.

CalFire has spent 82 million dollars fighting fires since July first.

The National Weather Service has issued “Red Flag Warnings” or “Fire Weather Watches” in the Sacramento Valley, Northeastern California, the Bay Area, parts of Kern County and Southern California through the weekend.
