Even before the chocolate boxes for Valentine's Day got snapped up, some store shelves were decked out for another event: spring.
The packets of seeds for spring gardening are out there, even though growing season is officially a while off. Not that the recent warm and sunny weather gives any hint of winter.
Lynn Kunstman of Jackson County Master Gardeners is making plans for her own garden, and plans to help anyone else tending one. She joins us monthly outside of growing season for a gardening Q&A. If Lynn doesn't have the answer, she'll know someone who does.

Top tips this month:
- Mulch to keep your soil from drying out! But careful with grass clippings, because the fresh ones can get hot.
- Pine needles are okay for mulch.
- Bare-root vegetables are available for sale now—go to the nursery, dig them out of the sawdust, and take them home and plant them—don't wait for frost to end!
